Hi and welcome. I’m Lisa the creator of Cottage Folk Yarns.
Cottage Folk Yarns was established in 2018 but my dyeing and knitting experience goes way back.
I taught myself how to knit in 2006 from books and a few YouTube videos.
In 2008 I attended a 2-year diploma program for Textile Arts in North Vancouver, B.C. Canada. In the program, I learned a variety of skills including dyeing, weaving, and screen printing. After completing the course I went back to “regular” jobs but knitting always stayed a constant in my life.
In 2012 I created a yarn brand called Antique Lion Fibers but I had to close the doors on that business due to life circumstances. But the heart wants what it wants and I have now circled back to one of the things that are always a constant in my life, yarn.
Cottage Folk Yarns is inspired by the granny chic lifestyle. Walking through life at a slow pace, making things with your hands and enjoying every stitch.
Each skein of yarn is hand-dyed with love by me. I take my time to make sure each one is created to the best of my ability. I choose yarn bases that will last through generations when treated with care.
Knitting and yarn have been big influencers in my life and I hope my skeins and patterns bring you the joy that they bring me.
